According to Dr Linus Pauling a 2 time winner of the Nobel Prize, every disease and illness can be traced to mineral deficiency in the body. This statement alone should be enough for people to get understanding why minerals are more important than vitamins. Dr Linus did not include vitamins in his statement and that is good enough for me. That said, it is still important to take vitamins, however many people are ignorant of the importance of understanding why minerals are more important than vitamins.

In understanding why minerals are more important than vitamins, you will learn that the body cannot function without minerals. Every process in the body is dependant on minerals. Magnesium for example, is responsible for over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body. If these enzymatic reactions did not take place, the human race would be pretty much zombie like.

While biochemical activity in the body is dependant on vitamins, the vitamins are unable to function without minerals. In order for oils, sugars, fats, carbohydrates, amino acids, enzymes and proteins to perform, they need minerals to do perform their tasks within the body. It now becomes much easier understanding why minerals are more important than minerals.

Living matter can be used to synthesize vitamins and this is not the case in minerals.

Understanding why minerals are more important than vitamins, becomes easier when you get this point

The soil that is used to plant plants. has a large role to play in the mineral content in the plants. As the soil has been grossly depleted of essential minerals, society does not get nearly enough the optimum levels of magnesium from food that is grown in the soil. This was not the case one hundred years ago, those days people got everything that they needed from the food that they consumed. Most of the food that is produced by farmers has far too little minerals in it. Farmers use man- made mineral deficient fertilizers and this is why many people have illnesses and diseases today.

The body is designed to function synergistically. This will be thrown out if the body is deficient in just one mineral. Furthermore, other nutrients cannot deliver the maximum nutrition to the body if there is a mineral deficiency. It now becomes very important that society starts understanding why minerals are more important than vitamins. As many people are probably unaware of these facts, they happily carry on mineral deficient and they are not able to use their bodies they way they were intended to be use.

Glands need minerals in order to be able to secrete hormones. Minerals also control the ph (acid-alkaline balance) of tissue fluid. Antioxidant -enzyme function cannot take place without the presence of minerals. Minerals are the mechanism that allow enzyme function to take place. Minerals that are derived from plants create an alkaline detoxifying agent and this helps to neutralize the acid metabolic byproducts of cells. It also helps to expunge these and toxins from the body. Vitamins, while essential, are not responsible for these kinds of very important functions in the body.

Cellular balance is another reason why understanding that minerals are more important than vitamins is so critical

Minerals are required to maintain balance of the body cells. Osmotic or external and internal pressures are possible due to minerals. Cellular function is very dependent on this and people are able to maintain their youth far longer if they take in adequate minerals. It should also be noted that while the body is able to produce vitamins, it cannot produce minerals.
